I found this in the first roll of my latest brick for this week. What kind of error is this? It does not seem to be affecting the devices. I wish I knew more about errors.

Delamination of plating, more commonly referred to as zinc rot.

I want to say it's a lamination error -- but I'm not sure.

I am not sure about that. The light areas you see appear to be verdigis, not exposed zinc. And if it wer zinc rot how come the devices are not affected?

Maybe struck though a piece of copper foil or a piece of dropped plating scrap. Thanks, Doug.

Zinc cents don't laminate, but with the gold color there it may have been struck through a piece of foil from another coin.

So if the plating was missing, then the color would be gray. But it is there, so it must have had something blocking the strike on that area.

Coop, where is whatever it is struck through on the devices? Look at the image you posted. You can see the foreign object on the devices as well. On the coin I posted it does not show that. I feel it is struck through, I just want to be sure.

Okay, just trying to understand this: In coop's pics it seems that the struck-through debris is still on the coin until you get to the E D and there it seems to have broken away.

Is that what happened to seal's coin? Debris missing under 2 0 and present at 0 5?
