1957-P Proof Jefferson nickel with DDO

I decided to share my possible minor find in this format to give people an idea that might not search nickels for varieties a peek into it. We will hopefully know by the end of this post if its a dud or score.

I am going back through some mint cello's I have already pulled out the major varieties, but there are still some interesting things going on.

I like finding nickel varieties, not just the big ones. I really enjoy finding the little ones also they are tricky, sometimes light a hit or other thing play tricks.

On this first odd one I find I noticed few different things mind you I look for the differences first( difference between odd coin and an normal coin same year and mint mark ) when searching and stick to one year and mint mark if possable. This what I noticed so far a doubled Star and some notches on top of the u in trust and the typical thick long bottom on the I in In.

ok look at the star below

what am I seeing if you look the left of the star you can see a secondary point rotated and the other points having the same tilt of distortion

Ok, I am now pretty sure it is a doubled die now let us see what other devices are affected and if it's a listed one or not.

Note:
I am only pretty sure because I found a similar tripled star before.

there is some minor notches in the u in trust I will note that but nothing to jump for joy

I also see something up with the bottom of the I in In a few other DDO have this type of shape so with note it. If it is something or nothing not important yet. Just noting the differences or interesting things different from a standard 1957-p nickel.

ok now I goto the BVC to see if it matches anything and if any markers to chase down.

I get down to the 4th one find a pretty close star

http://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/...ngs/view/589

it only shows the star then some markers but I can understand that the other doubled seemed minor or maybe wasn't doubling at all.

ok it should have a Die scratch above RT of LIBERTY

that looks like it could be correct. but the scratch is way longer and stronger maybe different die state?

1957-P-Jefferson-Nickel--Proof-WDDO/WDDR

ok this is looking good let's check the other markers

there should as be Die gouges below ST and second T of STATES.

Nope everything in both areas looks normal maybe different die state

I look through all other just incase no other matches.

I think with one marker and the doubled part being a exact match I can call it a 1957-p Proof WDDO-004

so it was a variety and it was listed score!!

Update: there is a DDR coop pointed out maybe it is a different die

I don't think it is that die number. The doubling on the STATES is strong and would be included more so than just the marker at the bottoms of these devices. It is minor, but a keep from what I can see.
