NGC Sticker looks worn on the front of the slab. Coin looks way better on the NGC site but maybe it's just the angle.

Looks OK to me. Surfaces look good for an authentic but heavily abraded MS eagle. The MS-61 grade seems to be something of a "catch-all." I've seen slabbed MS-61 eagles with much better eye appeal and fewer marks than this coin has. The seller has a huge ebay presence with no reputation for offering bogus product.

So, real coin with below-average eye appeal for the grade. It is a slightly better date however.

Yeah I saw the mintage/population and was interested but it's in too bad of shape for me. I'm just working on spotting fakes and this looked a bit off. Thanks!
Rest in Peace

It's not fake. 61 is only a point higher than 60. 60 is the bottom of the barrel for an uncirculated coin. This is one tiny bit better than the worst uncirculated grade. So it looks like it's graded - not pretty.

The NGC brown labels are frequently seen not quite straight in the saddle. There are a lot of them that have the hump on the label and one of the reasons they've switched over to their new labels, which I like much better, too.

Ouch not a very good looker, poor thing .....

Grade of MS61 is generous in my opinion .... Eye Appeal 1-10 call it a 3!

If I were in the market for a $10 gold, I would likely pass on this. The eye appeal is low IMO

I agree the eye appeal is bad and I won't be buying the coin. I was suspicious of the label so I wanted to see if it was fake. My gold budget has already been eaten up after just a few small purchases anyway. I do feel that $10 Liberty eagles may be sleepers though. Coins with low mintages (200,000 or less) and populations of under 1500 sell for like 25% over spot. It's still a ton of money but these are much more scarce than a lot of the $20 coins and common $10 Indian Eagles. The bad thing is not many (if any) people have the cash for complete sets so I don't know that these coins will ever have a ton of demand.

For example that coin I posted has a PCGS population of under 500 and a mintage of only 141,000. It's selling for $800 and melt is almost $600.

Nothing suspicious about the label, it is just the lighting. Holograms light up like a christmas tree in some lighting, and look plain in others. That's how they are supposed to be.
