Ok so I decided to change my camera set up. I don't have a copy stand but did put together something with tabletop tripod and 2 lights. My pics used to be pretty bad because of poor lighting.

My Camera is a Canon Eos Rebel T3 with the 18-55mm lens. I don't have a bellow or a tube extender but will eventually get one or the other. I also started using the Remote mode from canon software.

Here are my 1st pics with new setup. what do you think. Need filter. Enough light?

Good start MC! But I am not fond of the lighting. Too low angle. The coin's contrast is opposite what it should be, ie it's bright on the edges and dark on the surfaces. Bring the lights up higher and it will be fixed. And please rotate the coin so it is square to the camera...pet peeve of mine.

You'll be able to adjust lights and see the different results ...... Right now pics highlight the flaws and don't bring out the beauty that I know is there .....

This little ebay photo guide maybe of value:

.... shows different light angles and their effects as well as axial lighting, which maybe best for your buck, no pun intended!
