Found this little jem when I bought someone's personal collection. Any idea on a grade?

The picture is not clear enough to say for sure, but it doesn't seem to be a high enough grade to matter. Unless you have an MS66 or higher it does not make a significant difference.

If you want a certified '64 Washington, why not go to ebay. It won't pan out to certify this one if you're looking for investment value.

Jbuck - now that's the sort of hair (wig) Washington is supposed to have!
Rest in Peace

What were you looking T-BOP? Christophermpollard [is it okay if I call you CMP?], from your pictures the surface of the coins looks like it might have a matte sort of finish, like a powdercoat or such. Is the true in hand? Or is it shiny with a slightly reflective surface? Compare it to a new coin, hot of the line, 2015.

Slightly reflective but slightly tarnished from age and being stored in a cardboard collection card.

I compared it to a State Quarter and was wondering if there is more detail on the face of a State Quarter compared to a 60s coin or from the mint is it the same image?

The State Quarters use a modified obverse design, it has more details but also a much lower relief. Both sides of the Washington quarter have been modified multiple times since 1932.

I was wondering about finish because I opened a '64 mint set and where the cello was open there was a type of covering that wasn't tone or tarnish but something analogous to plaque on the coins' surfaces. Your pictures reminded me of that. I've found this with later 1970s sets and even multiple '71 blue Ikes. Nasty stuff.
