Twenty years? Indeed, that's what the math says. In that time, there's about 40 different types of circulation issues so far, not including special collector sets/proof coins. More than enough to offer quite a challenging search, either roll hunting or buying MS (or PL) at a reasonable price.

I also do hope there's not anyone not collecting them!

I like the 10 year anniversary 22k gold outer rim one the best so far. :)

A worthy milestone!

The loonie will be thirty next year.

Meanwhile, the USA still has not realized that the one and two dollar coins are better than the notes.

We need some photos of some of the different varieties. I didn't think it was double the amount. I like the Nunavut and the Shannon toonies the best. I wonder if the mint will mark this milestone.

No, there are not and that is the problem, along with the fact that we insist on keeping the one dollar note way past its expiration date.

I did not mean to get this thread sideways, just me being silly again.

This list is quite complete, its missing a few tho.

http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...rs-1996-2016

For example in 1997 there were two different types of toonies in PL sets depending if the set came from Ottawa or Winnipeg mint, shiny or frosted bear.
2006 pixie or normal ear
2010 there's a 14 or 16 serration variety.
2012 both without and with security feature
2016

Some people collect various other errors as well.

Yeah well one important thing to consider is it becomes like a badge of accomplishment to add at least one brand new toonie each and every year to that toonie collection. At my age, it'd be wishful thinking to leave too many blank 2x2 slots open for future years so I go it just one page at a time.

Plus the way I figure it, my toonie collection could be one of the few things that my future beneficiaries might fight over!
