weight 26.25 grams; diameter 39.4 mm; thickness 2.88 mm; reeded edge and non-magnetic. Orientation of obverse to reverse is like a US coin... if you flip it vertically the reverse will be right side up.

Comments much appreciated.

Ya'll were right on... my local jeweler did an acid test and it came out green. Totally fake. Good thing I didn't buy it for a real coin, it was in a cioin lot that I purchased.

You can do your own kitchen test with a tiny spot of bleach and / or a drop of vinegar looking for one result or another. But you don't want to harm a coin if it's collectible. In my particular case though I'd use other means with the coin in hand and it's unlikely it would ever advance to an acid test. If you still have the coin put a drop of bleach on it. I bet it won't turn black after several minutes. Don't do this to a good silver coin though unless you are willing to accept the resulting damaged coin. In my case it doesn't bother me because I document counterfeit coins and use the pictures of the results on silver and non-silver coins.

Looks to be pressure cast.
I would like to see a 50x micrograph of any part of the field that you may think to be 'iffy'.

I am new here, so I don't quite know my way around the site yet!

I realize this is an old post, but does anyone know where these come from? I got two of them in a batch of coins. I was first clued in that they weren't genuine when I found that they stopped making them in 1928 and one of mine is dated 1929. I also weighed them and one weighs a little over 24 grams, and the other a little under. The magnet doesn't stick either. That is as far as I have gone. I really just do not know what to do with them!

I appreciate any help!
