Coin Collectors, I have found a 1942 'S' nickel while cleaning out my SUV. I was picking up coins off the floor, and this one stuck out because of the odd 'dull' metallic appearance from a distance. Is it worth holding on to? Thanks.

and your nickle is 35% silver and referred to as a "war" nickle.
Not much value on yours in the shape it is in...maybe $1.00 ish? but I would hang on to it.
Nickle was scarce during the war so they changed the composition from 1942 - 1945 I think.

I would hang on to it, but I keep all nickels from before 1960

Like was said, not that good of condition, but it's a War Nickel with 35% silver, so it's a keeper.
