Ciao,
I'd like to share with you the following coin, a French pattern made for the contest of August 2nd 1814, the one where they choosed the new coins for the kingdom of Louis XVIII, just back on power.
Here you see the essai of the 5 Francs of Jacques, made in white metal and dated 1815 (37 mm, 18 grams).
Is anyone able to help me? On the World coins this pattern is called Pn25, but in bronze...
I don't have the Mazard or the Gadoury catalogues for French essais, does anyone have one of these reference books, to verify if it is mentioned the emission in white metal?

Thanks!
Roberto

I am sorry, I can't help you, but I just want to say I really like that coin. Nice piece.

Heritage has sold several 1815 white metal essais by different designers (Michaux, Tiolier, and several others I've never heard of). I assume that Jacques refers to Jean Jacques Barre, but I'm not sure. Maybe you can find an example here.

I don't think that Jacques refers to Jean Jacques-Barre, because Barre had as symbol the head of dog and Jacques the shell.
The essais you've linked, thanks, are in fact from the same contest, made by other authors, but mine was never sold at Heritage (and I cannot either find other examples around).
Let's see if anyone has a Mazard catalogue.

In my copy of Gadoury, I show this as #607, "concours de Jacques" as you know. Three are listed, silver, bronze and tin (which I suppose is "white metal".
