Hi I am Rich and I live in Sacramento CA. I have just started coin collecting since I was young and I like to order uncirculated rolls. I recently got a roll of Kennedy half dollars and there was damage on the end coins that might be from the wrapping process. Just wondering if anyone had any info on this activity. Should I return the damaged coins or might they have value. Thanks

To CCF , Rich , this happens to the end coins of bank rolls about 85 % of the time . it's from the machine rolling process. I never heard of anyone sending back the damaged coins for replacement or refund . I just live with it, Hey you still have the rest of the roll in BU .

Roller damage is an unfortunate byproduct of CRH.

If it is any condolence almost all of my great roll hunting finds had roller damage. It adds street cred to the fact that you earned it vs. buying it from a mint set.

I know somewhere I have a family photo of all 5 1971 quarter stocks I will have to dig up.

On a plus side every one in a while you get a win.

Keep hunting

Did you get them from the bank for face, or from the Mint directly? If the latter, I would return it, as they are shorting you two coins due to the damage which removes all value above face. If you paid face, it just comes with the territory.

Hi Finn. I think you are right but I have decided to keep them even though they are sending me a mailing code to return them. The damage is apparent as mint wrapping damage since they are still in the mint wrap so it has some oddity value to me. thanks Rich
