Hello! Today I came across a silver certificate with that I thought is a cool serial number. I know there are all sorts of terms for the number configurations. I am pretty new to all of this—never ventured into paper before....only coins! I was curious if there is any appeal in the sort of serial number I came across, I'm not really looking for an appraisal, more so, just to know if there is any interest in a sequence such as this, and if it has a specific name? 99978666 I thought it was cool for a few reasons: it uses only 4 numbers (6,7,8,9) it is flipped on both sides (999/666) it kind of ladders down by descending in both series of 4 digits (9997/8666) it has two sets of triples Any info you could share would be awesome! I'll post a photo as soon as I get home! Edited by joeturbo26 03/01/2016 8:04 pm

This isn't technically a fancy serial number. Quote: it uses only 4 numbers (6,7,8,9) This really only matters if there are only 1 or 2 different digits. Quote: it is flipped on both sides (999/666) SWIMS notes are worth something, but this isn't one because of the 7 and 8. Quote: it kind of ladders down by descending in both series of 4 digits (9997/8666) Not really a ladder. Quote: it has two sets of triples This doesn't really add any value. I agree that I would choose this serial number over a common one in the same condition, but it isn't going to add any premium. Nevertheless, I agree that it's a neat note.

Thank you so much! Can you explain a "swims" note?

It's a number which reads the same upside down (like the word SWIMS), like 69069069. They can only contain 6s, 9s and 0s.

I think they call this a heartbreaker note. So close to being something, but not...

It is funny you post something like this.. Because let me be honest When I usually see a post here with something like "cool serial, is it special" I am normally no surprised that there is nothing spectacular about the serial number what-so-ever... And even though you do have a serial number that falls under the NOTHING category I bought a note for the same reason just the other day. Simply because it looks cool on the note but I knew it didn't have a peticular name and wasn't anything special... $10 series 1950 E 66600099

One of the $1s has a star. I literally know nothing about this stuff.

LOL OK! Here they all are together! I actually went to a totally different branch of my bank today, and they had more! I didn't take them, but hey had another $5 and 20 $1's... Are they this common for banks to have? Do I need to start collecting these too....? Uh oh......

Doesn't look like you have anything special here.
Important when listing or showing Paper Money to note the Series # if it is not clear in the picture.
