Cheers, I posted this picture in my first post regarding PCGS ASE 70s with damage. I am adding this one to the error forum to see what people might think. The coin you see was pulled from a box of 20 PCGS 2016 ASE MS70 coins I purchased. I have a couple that have clear damage but this one looks like it was caused while being struck and not from bag/coin contact or other like the others. It is a clear dimple above the Y pressed into to obverse of the coin and appears to have the same color/finish as the rest of the coin. Unlike if it were done after which should have left shine from contact of what hit it like the others I have. Please tell my what you think, Thanks

Hardness test perhaps? What does it look like under magnification? Symmetrical?

If I bought it as a MS-70, I would not be happy with it.

Rackster,

funny you mention that, that could be it. I wouldn't think they would use a planchet like that but I know very little about coin collecting and that is why I am here. However an old friend of mine is a heat treater and I know all about hardness testing. I added an other pic.

Coop,

I wasn't sure how to look at it but when I found it I did consider it damaged and so did some of the commenters where I posted it first.

nss-52,

I have had contact with PCGS and am awaiting on a reply again from the guy who responded to my very first inquiry when I found the first two of the 5 I have issues with. I am hoping to send them back and have them make up the cost difference in the grading. Will see.

To all so far thanks so much for your input it is helping greatly.

to the Forum DonDo. when it's incuse, it's usually not good. I'm not seeing anything on your coin but PSD. Fortunately there are many more coins you can check out. Better luck to you on the next one.

I have to agree with you all and thank you again for your help. It looks like I will be sending this one back to be re-graded with the others I have issues with.
