Hello friends. I found this 1983 D cent today; coin roll hunting. I can not imagine how the secondary imagery came to be on this coin but it looks to be a minting anomaly. What could have caused this to happen?

I am pretty sure that's a vise job. Someone took Two Cents and pressed them together with a vice. The 2nd Memorial design is recessed. PMD

Or a hammer job. You take two boards, place a stack of coins (2 or 3) between them and hit them with a large hammer. (works better on cents as the copper and zinc core cents are softer) Then look at the coins. Note on this coin only the higher devices are affected. If a vise was used, then all devices and the fields would be affected.
