Flea Market Find: 1980 Liberty Lobby "silver Eagle"

I've never seen this particular design before, but I really like it. It was one of those "I've got to have it" moments. Anyway, the toning on this coin is spectacular. The obverse is closely approaching the terminal stage of toning. It is dark. I included a picture using direct light which shows its bluish hue. After I purchased it the dealer asked if he could look at it one more time. He looked it over, smiled and then said, "I've really enjoyed owning this piece." My impression is that he had this for a long time. It's not too often that I pick up coins "in real life," so it was nice to actually buy something from a real person. Instant satisfaction. Just out of curiosity, has anyone else seen these before? I'm growing quite fond of silver rounds with attractive designs. Report this Post to the Staff
