I am on board 100%....as a seller, I dont like some of their changes mainly:

1) Increased final value fees
2) Not being able to leave negative feedback for bad buyers
3) Potential holds on Paypal funds for 21 days

Because of these changes, I will join the boycott, I will close my ebay store, and I will sharply decrease my buying on there (less buying by me and others means lower sales dollars for sellers, and therefore lower revenue for ebay). If enough people get on board and hold firm, ebay will feel the impact.

I to will put a freeze on my ebay transactions---no more buying coins, no more selling LEGO.

Everyone here, buyer or seller, should join the boycott as well. The new rules are simply not right and anyone, seller or buyer, must see this. It's time we showed these corporates that we too have a voice and are not afraid to be heard!

ebay isn't even listening to its members. They are just alienating us.

When was the last time shell oil or any major corporation listened to the people ?

ebay is no different than any other entity of similar stature .

while their revenue might be slightly affected for a few days they have the resources to weather that ,,while the sellers most will not and cannot afford to be shut down for a long enough period of time to affect ebay in any significant way .

while I intend to curtail or completely stop buying during the boycott,, I can see no gains being made from the effort in any real sense .

I agree with Rick somewhat. A week will do nothing.

However I think ebay will see lasting effects from this one. I don't think this one will be like the store increase a couple years back where sellers left for a month or so, then started coming back.

I think there will be a lot of sellers that will never come back, and there will be a lot that think now that staying is a good idea, but will find out later that it's not worth it. The main reason is the feedback rules, not the fee increase. I don't think ebay realizes how this is going to be a big snowball in the face.

Most sellers (and almost all buyers) have no idea how rampant buyer fraud, npb's, and extortion is right now. It's only going to get worse now that duct tape has been put over sellers' mouths. There will be no warning of any kind as all buyers will have no accountability for their actions, therefore the problems will get worse, then the sellers that never saw it before, will start to see it and leave. Think about this, a seller can't even neg a buyer that doesn't pay, writes a bad check, or uses an unauthorized credit card. The buyer gets the item, the money, and no repercussion at all. How long do you think it will take for this to snowball? The answer is minutes, cause the scammers are setting up their plans now. They have months to prepare.

So, in my opinion, listings, sales, and profits for ebay will go down. Will they then listen to us? Nope. But they will listen to the stockholders, you can bet the house on that.

Too bad Yahoo Auctions was shut down. If sellers used an alternative auction site to sell their goods for a week, the boycott might actually have teeth.

Ok I did the first step and shut down my ebay store completely today. No my single act wont be enough to be even a blip on the ebay radar, but if enough people follow suit and dont come back, an impact will be felt. Personally I am looking at doing a website with a buddy of mine. I keep email records of my past buyers so I can send out a mass email telling them where to find me once I get the site up and running. I like the idea of more freedom, fewer fees, less red tape, etc by avoiding ebay altogether. They had a good thing going and had to ruin it for alot of people, and then insult our intelligence by trying to spin it as something good.

There are alternatives to ebay, like onlineauctions, bidville, ecrater, Overstock, and others. I checked out several of these and the search features were not that great from a buyer perspectiveand the strating bid prices were mostly higher.

I checked most of them out as well and very few items actually have bids....
I have bought from Ioffer before it took close to six months of on and off offers to finally wear the seller down enough to give me a reasonable price.

I'm surprised more people on this site haven't responded to this thread. The new fees are a slap in the face, but what really gets me is that sellers will no longer be able to leave feedback for buyers. That's absolutely ridiculous.

I'm participating in this boycott, and I'll probably be off ebay indefinitely.

I haven't really noticed much of an impact on the coins section- just as many listing as last week. Nearly all my favorite sellers had something posted.

If anything there was a slight increase in auctions on my favorite section. I guess everyone was trying to get their auctions started before the boycott. The 2 Cent section normally has just under 300 listings last week it was over 400. Its been several weeks since I actually bought something and several months since I sold anything.
