Does the area in question look flat, level with the surface in that area? If so, it might be MD. that area should be rounded like a device:

When it looks one color, it looks flat to me. Note the roundness of the 1954D-1DO-001

Keep in mind how these doubled dies are formed. They were from an off center hubbing when they were making the die. Thus the hub make a deep indent into the die for the eyelid. Then when it was hubbed correctly, most of the incorrect hubbing was wiped out except for where the eyelid was hubbed incorrectly. Now it should look like a raised like the normal eyelid but not as tall on the coin. (remember only one hubbing took place there. hubbing of these older die were three or more times to create the dies) A lot of Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration shows up in this area as well. So the better the eyelid is raised, the better chance it will be listed. Here is what Die Deterioration will look like on this area of the cent:

I labeled this as die flow. It is lines that flow in the same direction as die flow like what you see on LDS/VLDS coins in the fields, except it is on the nose.
While this look like a doubled eyelid, it is actually Die Deterioration. (too small to be an eyelid)

Well it appears that way from what I can see. I see the single color and that tells me that area is flat. When it is rounded I see the color change from light to dark. That tells me the die created it. When it is flat, that tells me the machine damaged it by sliding sideways. (like a car wreck) LOL So take another look and tell me what you see on your coin?

coop, sorry it took these long to respond , but I wasn't home home to look at the coin until now. if I move the coin around I see bright on the top and change color when it goes away from the light bulb so it means that it not flat .
