You never know what you'll get in change at your local coin store. I stopped by mine this afternoon to buy some coin holders and some BU Ikes for a friend and got this nice 1958-D Jefferson in my change. Nothing valuable, but a nice 58 year old coin. It added to my trip. Paul Bulgerin

Nice. I always love getting old coins in change.
Glad it found a good home.

My LCS intentionally keeps older date common coins in the one and five cent (including an occasional Buffalo) in their cash register.
They even keep a few silver dimes and quarters for any young buyers for an additional WOW. You can bet you'll see those folks back in the store.

So, the question not yet asked... How much were the BU Ikes?

My friend, who lives in Scotland, wanted BU Clad 1973-P and D, 1974-D and 1978-D Ikes. The dealer didn't have any single BU coins, so I ended up buying mint sets for all three years. The dealer said it was actually cheaper to buy the mint sets than to buy the Ikes as individual coins.
I paid $21 for the three mint sets (about $12 face value) and my friend is going to buy them all for that price.

My shop does the same thing as well. Always find a fair share of UNC 50's-70's cents, UNC dimes from the 60's-70's, UNC bicentennial quarters, pre-1960 nickels including some S mints, etc.
