Carl, is that book #1 with FSB examples?

Yes and almost all complete. Only the 1926S left to find with all FSB's. And even the one I have is close but not quite.

Pre-decimal coins, especially sovereigns.

It's nice to think that we once had gold coins in circulation even if the common man rarely came across them.

It all goes back to when I was a kid in the '50s. This was the Holy Grail, and even though I've moved well beyond it, I just had to own one and still enjoy it regularly!

Anything before about 1800.
That means milled, hammered and ancients.

What do you mean favorite?

I like Japanese and (pre-1940s) Dutch coins, because they're almost always very beautiful. I like Mercury dimes, for the same reasons, but they're much more expensive because they're silver.
I'm not sure if there's any coins I like for something that is not "being beautiful" (which is more about the design than anything else). Maybe "being old" is close enough (even so, I prefer pretty-looking old coins to those that are very ugly).

The 1935 Canadian dollar. It's my favorite obverse design of any coin I own. I love the detail and symmetry in the crown and face. Unfortunately , they only used it for that year.

Coins? Tie between wheat cents, V nickels, and Shield nickels.
Dates? 1931, and 1940-45

I prefer German coins minted between 1750 and 1850 and to be honest, many minors and fractionals are far more interesting to me as large Thalers and Doppelthalers.

Anything with nice toning. Morgans are my favorite but most anything with a nice tone will call to me.

And it usually says "Buy me, buy me".

Coinfrog, that is a stunning example of a vbs! Love the toning! Carl, do you have a thread with better pics of your FSB Mercs? I would love to drool on my keyboard for a while.
