I wonder about those parallel lines next to the date. Could those be adjustment marks? The mint used to file overweight gold and silver planchets in the early years, leaving parallel grooves like this on the struck coins. However, I don't recall seeing any on Capped Bust halves before. I always assumed that by the early 1800's the mint became consistent about punching out correct-weight planchets, making adjustments unnecessary.
