This is an example of the Matron Head design cent, and this one as about as good as they get. This piece came from the famed Randall Hoard which was discovered circa 1868. Many of the cents were Mint State or close to it, and many, but not all, had some spots. This one is an exception.

It came from well known large cent collection that was known for high quality pieces. It is a common variety N-13, but the old coin envelop that came with it stated was an exceptional example of a common variety.

What do you think PCGS graded it, and what do you think the grade is?

this is one amazing coin worthy of any world class collection. MS65RB. killer die crack and strike. I could look at this one all day.PCGS shows 89 at this grade but I would think the variety may be a smaller population. somewhere between $2500 and $3000.

A "WOW" EAC 55, or 63 if you allow for the very slightest sign of cabinet wear.
