Just an update. I've managed to fill a few more holes. I tucked 3 steel cents into the unmarked holes for now. I'll probably end up using 1940 PDS before I frame it.

Awesome! Are you planning to put a '09 S VDB in there?

Quote: Are you planning to put a '09 S VDB in there? I'm hoping to fill all the key-date holes. (except the 22 'no-d'/ "plain") In my opinion it's simply an over hyped variety. I'll probably leave that hole empty strictly in protest. The prices for low-grade key-date Lincolns have dropped in the past few years. I'm hoping to be able to find a decent '09 S VDB eventually. I'm planning on framing this thing, and letting it hang on a wall in my house. I don't want to lock in in a safe after I'm done with it. Adding the keys to it will make it as expensive as a large screen HD television, and I can't afford a safe that's big enough to hide a 40" flatscreen.

Very cool addition! There's an interesting article in the March, 2016, issue of "the Numismatist" (pages 17 - 18, "Feeling Board?") devoted to these early coin boards. Author David W. Lange, concludes that "dried adhesive is neutralized by age." He also has a 2007 book, "Coin Collecting Boards of the 1930s & 1940s." That's a great find. Thanks for sharing it. Jack

Ref: the Cardboard Holder project. I was wondering if this class of coin is what you are putting in your antique coin holder.

6 holes left to fill. 7 if I count the '22 (no report) one. The '13D and the '33D will be easy to fill. The other 4 holes are gonna cause me to open my wallet a bit further. You'll notice I removed the '43 steel cents and replaced them with the proper 1940 P, D, and S-mint coins.

Those are almost the same coins missing in my Dansco album. Good luck. Can't wait to see it finished.

Quote: So how do you display that or don't you? Right now, it's sitting on top of my armoire. (armoire is a fancy word for the piece of furniture that I keep my underwear in) It'll eventually get framed, and hang on a wall inside the house. As I mentioned earlier, the total expense for this thing is going to cost less than what most spend for a HD television.
