I found this on the shelf at my local coin shop. It was sitting next to the used Dansco albums. I paid $100 for it. I did manage to get 5 really ugly impaired silver eagles along with it. My local shop sells eagles for spot + $1.75, so the board ended up costing me $5 including sales tax. There's a couple of taped repairs on the backing of the board behind the 1912 P and the 1916 S. And a small puncture behind the 1920 S. Copyright states it was made in 1938. No mintage #'s for any of the 1939 coins.

Wow! Definitely a piece of numismatic history.
Imagine the glue will not be kind to copper cents.

Wow, you even get three blank holes for the brand new 1940 cents, whenever they come out and all...
But honestly, that is really cool and a perfect pick up for $5!
EDIT: What's up with the 1922 spots? 1922 plain - 'No Reports?'

I read an essay about how penny boards 'brought coin collecting to the masses.' Wonderful piece of history! Quote: EDIT: What's up with the 1922 spots? 1922 plain - 'No Reports?' See the note on the back of the board!

Hehe thanks Arrows and Rays! So does that mean the mint had not released the fact that it was an error at that point? 17 years after the fact?

There's still no definitive mintage on the 1922 No Ds.

at first I though it was filled with extremely worn down coins. I was like great deal getting the S vdb and 22 plain for $100 even in barely recognizable condition.

Quote: Do you think you would ever be tempted to fill it? Oh yes, I do plan on filling it. It might take me awhile to get the key-dates though. I'm planning on using good-vf chocolate brown examples. I already have quite a few, it shouldn't cost very much to find the others.

I've plugged a few holes with what I had lying around. I'm planning a visit to my local shop tomorrow. I've got a couple of extra $20 bills in my pocket, and they always have a decent supply of lower-grade Lincolns to search through.
