That's before Verdi-care? Tell us what you did to get the big differences we see.

Yes the first 2 pics are before verdi-care 2nd two pics are after I used the recommended method for debris removal on circulated coins...I put just enough verdi care on a soft clean micro fiber towel the same size as the coin then holding the coin by the edges I turned it in a clockwise and counter clockwise motion a few times then I did the same for the opposite side but I used a different part of the towel with clean verdi care when I did the opposite side

To tell the truth I kind of liked the "before" version better. Verdi-Care is nice to remove gunk but it also removes natural toning and coloring, leaving the coin looking bleached.

Thanks for the feedback-and in a couple days when it's fully dry if it ends up looking any different I will repost 2 new pics on this thread

It's a great product and, it doesn't leave a coin 'bleached'

I agree with N9, the coin as rough as it was looked better before the Verdicare treatment. There are MUCH better restorative measures than using that product. The after looks unnatural and way too bright.

Maybe I should of waited for it to completely dry before posting pics-I don't know but this is why I'm experimenting first on cheap coins-thought a few of these large cents were perfect candidates, that said I really liked the outcome so far and it got rid of a lot of gunk but I appreciate all the comments and I'm definitely now going to post pics after fully dried. I just looked and it still does not appear dry so no rush I'll probably wait a week or so...

I agree the before pictures are far better. Now if you could do my truck and make it look like that I'm all in but for coins no thanks. Just my opinion.
Cheers, Bill

He did say that the coin needs to dry... give it some time before jumping all over it. Quote: Verdi-Care is nice to remove gunk but it also removes natural toning and coloring, leaving the coin looking bleached. If used properly, I would disagree... Maybe BadThad can chime in here...

The second is an improvement because the verdigris issue has been taken care of ... I fully expect it to look fine after drying.

Verdi care I have used like Slamnbass has and the toning of the coin gets stripped and your left with and odd colored coin. I no longer use Verdi-care as a cleaner.

Pacificoin I never keep track of all the hours I put in over the years on perfecting how I finally came up on what works for me to restore a coin it would make your head spin like so many before me have. Yes I now do restoration of a coin and not butcher them, all the products and strange things I have tried and after all that I have learned this. Restoration of a coin each collector has his/her way of doing this and as long as it done right and it works for them. Because in the end each coin saved lives on for the next collector

Agreed Strachman. Thanks for the PM by the way. I agree on what you said about the product. Experimenting with different things can conserve or destroy. Lots of copper and bronze has been graded by both NGC and PCGS that has the same "LOOK" , it is not only ICCS . There are two different versions of the product and the earlier orange coloured stuff was by far the best. It is no longer available. The current clear coloured stuff is in my opinion ,not that great and I will not use it except for semi hard green verdigris. Even then the coin is usually toast.
