Poll Question
There was some confusion in my Pay it Forward contest. I need the groups help. Please review the thread "PAY IT FORWARD #26" thread and help me decide who is the winner....This poll ends at 8am eastern tomorrow morning 2-14-08, unless one of the candidates concede before then I just can't get enough of this election stuff. So it appears all the votes are in and even the hanging chads were counted. Deadmunny is the winner and a email will be sent. If he does not want to participate (I am still unsure by his post ) I will then contact Karrlot by email. I agree with Karrlot, this was all done tongue in cheek and I appreciate all that participated. I think the idea that came out of this, (to post a link to the original is a good idea and should be adopted by Deadmunny or Karrlot and all that should follow them). Thanks again Results

Unless the first qualified poster to reply concedes, s/he is the winner regardless of the content of the post, in my opinion.

If Deadmunny replies again declining, chastize him/her for bothering everyone and give it to Karrlot.

Deadmunny was first to post that has not already won
If he concedes...it goes to the 2nd poster

As Deadmunny was the first to post, he/she is the winner. No need to have 50 posts.

I vote for Deadmummy. Nowhere in any of the rules (assuming that there are some somewhere) does it say exactly what text should or should not be posted in the post of the winning poster. Therefore, the actual words contained in the post have no relavince to the contest. By all accounts, a person could post one of those goofy little dancing bananas and win the contest.
I would have preferred to carry through to the finish whatever the personal agony it would have involved, and my family unanimously urged me to do so. But the interest of the forum must always come before any personal considerations.
From the discussions I have had with myself and the guy who sat next to me on the bus today, I have concluded that because of the Pay-it-forward-gate matter I might not have the support of those that I would consider necessary to back the very difficult decisions and carry out the duties of this award in the way the interests of the forum would require.
To continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both myself, Deadmummy, and Mintmarq in a period when our entire focus should be on the great issues of numismatics abroad and a fantastic coin market without inflation at home.
Therefore, I shall resign the claim to winning Pay it Forward #26 effective at noon tomorrow. Deadmummy will be offered the prize at that hour in this office.
In passing this claim to Deadmummy, I also do so with the profound sense of the weight of responsibility that will fall on his shoulders tomorrow and, therefore, of the understanding, the patience, the cooperation he will need from all forum members.
As he assumes that responsibility, he will deserve the help and the support of all of us. As we look to the future, the first essential is to begin healing the wounds of this forum, to put the bitterness and divisions of the recent past behind us, and to rediscover those shared ideals that lie at the heart of our strength and unity as a great and as a generous forum.
By taking this action, I hope that I will have hastened the start of that process of healing which is so desperately needed in Coin Community.
I regret deeply any injuries that may have been done in the course of the events that led to this decision. I would say only that if some of my Judgments were wrong, and some were wrong, they were made in what I believed at the time to be the best interest of the forum.
To those who have stood with me during these past difficult months (which according to the current poll results are one person which doesn't include me because I voted for Deadmummy), to my family, my friends, to many others who joined in supporting my cause because they believed it was right, I will be eternally grateful for your support. I like politics too. (Of course, if he doesn't want it, I'll take it.)

What da H---? I posted first but I do not claim the prize. The next in line can have it. In fact, the prize was never defined. If you had defined the prize as "double eagle" or "lunch with Angelina Jolie" then yes, my post would have read "me me me". Now please someone answer my original question. What are the PIF rules and where is it posted on this website?
As for voting, come November 4th, please do vote. Vote early and often.

This whole thing had kinda gone crazy people Hows abouts a do over since both parties I believe accept that fact that there was a slight lack of communication that caused the confusion. The initial intention of this "contest" was to have a fun and slightly organized way to pass on coins to people...now it's turning into politics

I made I false assumption by thinking that this forum also applied to the 50 post rule. Since this rule does not apply, I think deadmunny is the winner.

FYI - in case it was not clear - all of my comments were made in good fun. By all means Deadmummy was the first to post.
In the other post MintMarq said something about "Pay-it-forward-Gate". That made me laugh, so my post from last night was taken from Nixon's resignation speech when he was handing over the office to Ford in 1974 after the Watergate scandle.
Deadmummy - the only thing you have to agree to do is to hold another contest and send a coin to the first poster. If I was a deadmummy (which I'm not, I'm a Karrlot) I would take the prize, and if you like it keep it and send another coin to someone else. If you don't like it hold another contest and send the same coin you get to someone else. The worst you could be out is postage for a coin.

Not so fast everyone! I think we need to ask the admins to do an audit of the posting que to ascertain that in fact Deadmunny's post was the first to arrive on the forum and not erroneously inserted before Karrlot's post by CCF gremlins. Actually I think at this point both should be rewarded for their unselfish actions and contributions to forum humor. This would also create another PIF opportunity. Anyone for another poll on this?

It should be Deadmunny. The spirit and the intent is the first to respond and not the content of their response.
