thought I would share some indian coins I picked up recenlty.
first, some cast sunga square coins, (northeast india,2nd -1st century BC). both are about 14 mm and 2.5 g.

on the obverse you can see an elephant, a taurine (bull head symbol), swastika, and standard (called an indra-dhvaja). on the reverse is a bodhi tree (a descendant of the tree the buddha sat under when he attain enlightenment, a hollow cross, another taurine, and a stupa (a dome shaped shrine).
this one is a bit different, and I think a bit rare, hard to find similar examples.

this is smaller, at 11 mm and 1.0g. the obverse shows a bull (i assume) instead of an elephant. the reverse shows a different symbol, the "cross with dots". this is probably an ujjani symbol. ujjani is a city in north central india.
this interesting looking coin is from the kashmir region...

Jaga-Deva, Kashmir Region AE stater, 18mm, 6g, 9h; Late 11th - Mid 12th Centuries.
Obv.: Ja-Ga-De in Nagari script; King Jaga-Deva facing. Rev.: Goddess Ardochsho/Lakshmi seated, enthroned with lotus stem, wearing earrings.
i thought it looked like kermit the frog.
