Hello All;
I know absolutely nothing about ancient coins. I'm posting this for a friend who is in the jewelery business, and bought this mainly because of the right price, and it is silver. Does anyone know what period this comes from, (Greek, Roman) and ball park figure of numismatic value?

Thanks in advance.

Roman Empire, Marcus Aurelius, 161 - 180 AD. Some of our Roman experts will be along to give specifics and opinions on value.

It's a AR Denerius of Marcus Aurelius 161-180 AD. The obverse legend looks like: AVRELIVS CAESAR AVG P II F. Not sure of the reverse legend.

Reverse could be COS II with the COS cropped off(?).

Looks like a match for RIC-429a:

Although these can be fairly well rounded, I'd be slightly worried that any irregularities in its shape might've been taken off in order to to fit it into that mounting.
