hoosiergator....sorry for my slow response regarding selling on ebay. No I have not posted any of my large bills on ebay. I decided to have all my large bills graded. As you know, when you send more then one the unit cost for grading drops considerably. I will decide my next step on all the bills, after I get them back in 30 days or so. I will repost hear before I do anything.

Timewise - the cost of a TPG holder for a common XF or lower Black Eagle is generally not warranted compared to market values.

hoosiergator.... Sorry for my slow response. I have sent all my large bills to be graded, I have not posted them on ebay. Deciding to sell or not to sell will depend how the grading turns out. By combining all my large notes together the total cost of grading was minimized, so I am doing them all. I will post them after they are back to me.....in 30 days or so.

Coinfrog, When I was deciding on sending my $5 Star note in for grading I asked the guy I was working with if you saved money by sending in more than one note. He said yes, of course it depends on exactly how you do it some efficiencies can be gained. I sent in My 1914 $5 Star note, 1899 $1 Black Eagle, a 1923 Note and two Fractional (1874 25cent and 1875 fifty cent)... my total cost was $200! I just wanted these notes graded, to start a collection. My Dad's collection had 300-500 coins, except for a stack of Proof Sets and a few Mint Sets they all are circulated coins. I have been through most of them and selectively putting the 'better' coins on this site to get a perspective. Right now my plan is to sell off the coin and silver and use that cash to purchase currency. I kinda fell in love with currency, primarily big bills and I hope to convert 100% of my efforts and time to that....it makes me happy.

Good input. Large-size notes have made a big impact on my collecting habits as well. They're colorful, wonderfully detailed, easy to look at with their size, and can be just as common or rare as any coin.
Let us know your results!

Well done, and you now have some examples in hand to ponder the next time you ask yourself, "do I want to spend money grading mid-level notes that I already know how to grade?"

Coinfrog, as someone told me early on, getting an item graded is a rather a personal decision, not always dollars and cents....and I actually feel real good about spending the $200 bucks on getting these graded...my ole Banker Dad would never have spent that money, but he raised me to be a little more of a free spirit...SMILE!
If I learned nothing else I learned that many of you guys actually do know what you are talking about....although some did fall off the wagon a bit...I will mention no names either way!
