It's 2 cents hammered together. The reversed impression is a dead giveaway.

Feel free to check ebay though. These things have sold for a few hundred dollars before to very very ignorant people

We lovingly call them "squeeze jobs". It was hammered between coins as stated or tightly squeezed in a vice.

Either way. It's damaged.

Deffinite "squeeze job" as Foundinrolls called it. The other side of the coin should show squeeze damage also.

This one is most likely a vise job...a hammer most likely wouldn't have achieved such an even impression.

I've made a few of those but not quite that good. I too use a vise just to experiment and on mostly very common coins. If you try making such coins it helps identifying them when you find them in change.
