Sometimes I get to purchase coins from collections, that most dealers get to much of. Even though I have the same coins a lot of the time, I think how another collector put these away, and I feel I want them to continue being in a collection and not get dumped to the banks. How do others feel about these situations? Could you let these rolls of 1960 and 1961 Lincolns get sent to the bank?

Buying at face? I wouldn't think of passing. 2x face and I would have to think.
Edit to add: OK, I thought about it. I might drop a 20 on those rolls...

I'd save them at a reasonable price.

oh ... I always feel coin shops should make a profit, so I did not give them face..... but much less then 2X.
I am curious if the 1960's are full roll small or large dates .... they are sealed pretty good .. but I might check them out this weekend.

I will buy any Lincoln Cent rolls (or any US Cents) for 2x face or less any days. I will start getting picky when I have 20 of the same rolls date/mm already..... Nice Save and Thank You for sharing. I am jealous of you..... I want to work part time for a local coin shop too.... may be you can share how did you approach to get this job in the first place?

Quote: they are sealed pretty good .. I picked up a few rolls like these a year or two ago. Some of the tubes were really tough to open. All of the rolls were early 60's Memorials. Some of the rolls required freezing overnight/boiling water, and breaking/sawing into to get the coins free. I bought all they had @ $1 per roll. Found a few high-grade repunched mintmarks, and some upgrades for my folders. All in all, well worth the search.

scotty , sounds like you had the old time tubes .the ones that the caps just slip on top of the tube, ( not screw type ). I have a bunch of them. however I don't recommend the freezing ,boiling water, and sawing technique . good way to ruin the coins.

Yep T-BOP, those were the tubes. They looked just like the tubes in the photo. Freezing and boiling didn't harm any of the coins I mentioned, but it did help me pry apart the tubes in order to get access to the coins.

They are the slip on top tubes. I just grabbed one and tried twisting the top off, it did not budge. I guess 50 years in those tubes sort of sealed them pretty good. I am in no hurry, will make sure I have some new tubes to put them into, once I break them open. Or I might just see if there is any room left in my cent roll boxes ... and stick them in there for now.

I would not bring them to the bank either.

Sounds like you are getting them for a great price. I'm not into modern coins but if I had the opportunity to 'buy them right' as dealers say, I'd wouldn't think twice about it.

I'd just dump them at the bank. I'm too old to have massive rolls of coins laying around. In case something would happen to me, relatives would just do that anyway.

I'd keep them every time..there are investments I make that may well pay better, but they're not this much fun!

I'd go through them and just save the gems and varieties.
These look like pretty nice rolls but many times when you open old rolls they are just garbage.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
