Hello everyone. I am very new to this hobby. Found this while going through my jar of lincolns. At first glance I thought it was cracked but after a closer look its a raised line of material above the surface. I am sure that I'm explaining it poorly but I hope you can see it in the pictures.

What kind of error is this? Thanks for looking!

Can you get any better closeups of the area in question?

to the CCF.

Your coin appears to have a cracked die all the way across the obverse (front) side.

I've never seen such an example on a 2015 cent ... therefore withhold my opinion until the true experts weigh in.

If I am correct ... this is an outstanding find of a coin where the obverse die was ready to break apart.

Thanks for looking!
I will try to get some better pics. Again, I am new so excuse my ignorance but it seems like it is extra material on top of the coin. I can run my thumb over it and feel it as a raised line in the coin.

WOW! I'd love to find that one. Agreed, die crack through the whole obverse. Rim to rim. One of the best examples of a split die I've seen!

A crack on the die would be raised on the coin itself and welcome to the forum

You can get some raised metal from a sharp cut on a coin(from displaced metal)I thought I saw a straight line in the supposed crack in your original pics like a cut that's why I was unsure but I'm still not certain with these pics maybe a better close up of straight above the area
