New to Barber dimes, and have been looking to pick my first one up as a type.

Curious how grading on these works, and have done some research, but wanted to know how this one would grade. (not mine, e-bay)

I fully agree with the previous poster ... AU details, improperly cleaned.

It really angers me when a seller knows a coin is cleaned but doesn't say so. They have a lucrative customer base with inexperienced collectors. Personally, I don't want to rip them off any more than I want to be ripped off.

Also, it's my opinion that if a seller doesn't know the coin's been cleaned, he might want to educate himself a bit more before selling more coins. In most cases, it's not a difficult decision. If that's not the problem, then the seller is probably trying to take advantage of inexperienced, prospective buyers.

Just my opinion. Good luck!

I think it would be around AU-55 details, definitely polished sometime. The reverse has more detail than the obverse. Barber dimes are an awesome series though (although I may be impartial given that they're my favorite series )! You may want to check out Photograde to get a start on learning how to grade them using images alone.
