Don't think that qualifies as a weak D. A real Weak D should have a mintmark just barely visible with a naked eye.

Haha !

Look at my gallery (on sig below) for the 22-D "weak" I have. You can't even see the D on the pic. This is one coin I will not buy unless it's slabbed by the top 4. Too many fakes out there with filed or rubbed off D.

This is a pretty typical looking 1922 D cent that has seen some wear. Not a "weak D".

Thanks,
Bill

Complete information available on https://www.coppercoins.com Since that person has two books out on just Lincoln Cents it kind of makes him an expert I think.
As to fakes, when I was a kid we used to use an electric eraser to modify many coins. Removing that D was just something to do. We also made 14D's out of 44D's.

CARL !

Did you ever see, "Meet John Doe?"

In it, there's a quote, "In every American man's heart is a little larceny"

I only see one problem with the 14D from the 44D, the metallurgy would be wrong but most of those e-bay experts can't even spell metalurgy, whoops, Metallurgy...

No offense meant, the subject of altered coins always brings e-bay to mind, what with some of the most ridiculous & amusing coin descriptions I ever seen. And I'm most definitely a long time novice.
