Hello All,
Found this coin today.
The obverse looks fine but the reverse!
As you can see there is no hint of an image on the reverse.

Is this post strike damage or possibly from the mint.

It looks like PMD (Post mint damage). It is just very, very badly corroded.
Rest in Peace

Looks like it spent some time face up in a parking lot.

Thanks all.
John1 - I looked at it real close - that is the "metal" showing, nothing else on it

If it was "metal" showing it should be copper color not a dark gray color.

...For lack of a better story I have one: This is half of a forgery attempt! Two copper alloy pennies were ground flat and soldered together to make a mule, such as a LWC from the wrong year. This one was for practice or didn't work out, so the forger crudely separated the two halves with a small chisel to destroy the evidence. What's left are a chisel mark, rim damage, residual solder, and perhaps some heat toning. Find the matching LWC and the story's verified!

There it is! Would these likely be soldered together, before the age of super glue?

Probably some form of glue. It would wear off the edge of the coin. Soldier won't and it would make the coin uneven. So some glue is still what I see it as.
