Hello! I have the fortune of adding a set of Chinese coins from 1182 AD to my hoard of '82s as I work my way back through the centuries. They should be arriving in 10 days or so. These are bronze and iron coins. Do I need to be aware of special storage requirements to keep them stable and preserved? I live in Florida, and the collection is generally stored in antique metal money boxes, which are kept in a cedar chest. Is the humidity going to be an issue but a silica pack is sufficient? Is something else needed entirely? Am I over thinking this and they should be fine? Thanks for the tips!

@collects82, I'm quite a bit north of you, but I have had zero problems with 2x2s in boxes in a safe. I think that you will be fine with ammo boxes and a silica pack.

I think you would be OK with what you are using now.

I keep all of my Chinese round coins in 2x2 paper envelopes, even the $100 2300-year-old ones. I'm sure you will be fine.

In fact, some of those coins came out of a buried hoard I went through. If they stood the test of 800 years in the dirt, I'm sure whatever method of storage will be fine. They have a patina that should protect them from any future harm.
