Newbie here,

This is part of my late father's collection. Not a big deal but he loved $2 bills. These notes are 'like new' and have been kept in a currency album since he brought them home.

I will probably pass them on to one of my Grandkids when they are old enough to appreciate them.

I really like these posts that show notes being handed down from one generation to another.

Keep them in individual mylar currency sleeves....and if you don't have any, just let me know and I'll send you some @Timewise44.

Thanks for the comments....
I have kept them in the individual mylar sleeves that were part of the currency folder Dad used for his currency. A side story...

Dad was drafted out of his Senior year in 1944 and a few months later found himself as part of a machine gun squad fighting in France and Germany. He was wounded near Dooseldorf Germany on April 16, 1945. It was a "million dollar wound" and he fully recovered back in the states. He was discharged in August of 1945 and got a job at the Central Bank and Trust in Denver, Colorado. That is when he started collection coins. He used to by coins and bills with his paychecks from the tellers. Then after a quick inspection he then took the money home. Over the years he went to night school and in time moved up to Cashier, AVP, SVP, etc. Still he kept his collection going. I only saw it once as a kid and I Knew he got a tip on 1950 D nickels being run short. He ordered a bag for his bank and a bag for himself. He sold his bag of 1950 D Nickels in the 1960's for 75 cents each. Which I had those now....he also had a number of bills and gold coins that I can remember. Unfortunately, in 1968 our house was broken into and the only thing stolen was his coin/currency collection. He seldom had it home, but had taken it out of his safe deposit to "work on it"! But, when he was out of the house the thieves hit! Obviously, he knew someone at his back, in the vault area had set it up. The FBI got involved and they did catch the guy who did it, but the coins were never found.

So what I got from Dad was what he was able to rebuild since that time. I am enjoying working on it....but I would give it and all I have for another day with my Dad....I miss him ton's....and I am 66 myself. The one thing we are never in life prepared for his watching our parents grow old and passing on!

Just a wonderful story. My dad (also a collector) was a Navy officer in the Pacific during the war, and he died prematurely almost 40 years ago now. You and I are about the same age. God bless.

Coinfrog...many thanks....they were/are a special generation of Americans....my Father in Law turned 100 in January. He still has a clear mind and gets around pretty well...a Kansas farm boy that went to college and study Petroleum Engineering and then joined the Army Air Corp. He eventually became a Captain of a B17...his story is like most...of that generation...just amazing

Timewise - my dad was an admiral's aide as a First Lieutenant to Bull Halsey during the Solomon Islands and Leyte Gulf battles among others. Indeed those stories are amazing.

He was given a field commission to Ensign out of college because he could both type and take shorthand, which was very rare in those days for a man.
