Below are pictures of a Series 1953C $2 Dollar Note. It seems to be a 'cutting error'(top margin is wider than bottom). I did see the warning post on cutting errors coming from 'sheets' being cut to look like cutting errors. I do not think this is one of those, but I do not yet understand how to verify. This did come from my late Father's collection that I have been working on. I just did not notice this cut until recently as I read and learn more from all of you). Is this 'error' something that would increase the value of the bill? Seems like this type of error would be fairly common...but as a newbie, I am not sure... Comments welcome... In this case, no value increase.

Not a cutting error, just a slight printing misalignment. Most currency collectors want their notes properly centered, that is something that impacts the value of high grade notes. However, a legitimate cutting or printing error will result in extra paper(pre-printing foldover), missing design, or design shift(as seen in the photo below, reverse is centered normally).

I see your $2 Legal Tender as a poorly centered note. This is a cutting error. If you look close, you will see the top of the lower note in the lower margin.

Got it thanks....
Some of the currency in my late fathers collection have noting about them that is unique of different...I think he just had a thing for $2 bills. But the one $5 star note he had, which is out being graded, is a winner....!

Correct, to be considered a cutting error, one border of a note has to be pretty much missing.

I see the Star serial number comes from a 20,000 sheet Run instead of the normal 100,000 sheet Run..
I really need to stop converting serials to Plate Positions..

It has to be a little more to be considered a cutting error than yours.
