I got word from Excelsior on the Where's George forums that the first shipment of 2009 "J" Benjamins (the ones that were supposed to be released in February 2011 but were delayed due to massive printing problems) has arrived. All of the Kodachrome Benjamins that we have seen since they were released in October 2013 have been Series 2009A and start with "L".
Excelsior obtained a photo of a SNI (Single Note Inspection) bundle of Benjamins with the starting note JL14231138B. The strap was from the Cleveland FRB district, but the person who took the photo did not disclose what bank he got the bundle from.
After five years of struggle, the 2009 "J" $100s have finally arrived!
If you find any, please post pics here.

Well, that will definitely be interesting if true. Has there ever been a non-sequential release like this before?

I looked for these (and the Series 2013) when I was in Vegas, as that I'm also into WG, but didn't see any during my time there. I look forward to getting a few of these.

I actually had a 2009 $100 the other day. However, I accidentally spent it at the store the other day. It was from the Minneapolis district and was printed in May 2010.

Interesting. Will keep my eyes out for these 2009 notes. Quote: I accidentally spent it at the store the other day How does one "accidentally" spend a $100 note?

 Maybe it'd be easier to accidentally spend one if ya had a bunch at the same time, Celtic. I wouldn't know.

Are these worth anything extra or just been in the waiting?

Recently released in 2016, only time will tell how many were salvaged from all of the errors and eventually destroyed original printings. I'm guessing non-stars will not have a premium over face, unless super low or fancy. Possible premium for star notes. My only example, so far;

I just noticed that I received 4 of the 2009 notes. JF96609XXX I got them about a month ago and never checked the dates on them.

Do they have any value over face?

I've got one in my pocket. Got it selling some coins at a local show yesterday. JF95189782. I think it will last until tomorrow.
