100 coins and counting. Well over 1k in melt here, but I see quite a few that can sell for more than melt. This beautiful mess was among my grandpa's stuff that he left for us. I guess even in death he managed to get me a graduation present :)

I think it is always nice to get some coons passed down from family members. If it is 100 silver dollars .... That is very very very nice

Any better dates? What is the breakdown? That is a nice stash to find, hopefully you keep a lot of it.

A small horde is kind of like a jumbo shrimp. You have a small hoard.
Congratulations, nice bequest.
Silver is pretty cheap right now, unless you need the money, don't sell the melt stuff just yet.
When my father passed, I had over 700 ounces in silver coins to split with my sister. She wanted her half, so I divided it up and sold it, the shop made out the check in her name, and I mailed it to her. Silver was $13 an ounce at the time, a good price. I sold my half about two years later when the price of melt was pushing $40.

I do remember that in 2003-4 silver was selling for about $7-8 an ounce. I suggest we all look at historical prices of gold and silver over the last 50 years. You know when the GSA hoard was selling during Nixon's time you could buy the GSA Morgan's with CC mint mark for $7 each including the nice box, slab and paperwork. Now you pay over $200 for the most common GSA Morgan.

My condolences about your grandfather. At least you have a nice hoard of silver dollars to remember him with.

Don't melt most of them, they all look like much higher than melt value, which last time I checked was $11.43 (about a week ago.) I'll pay you twice that for most of them, especially those Peace dollars. & sorry for the loss of your grandfather, though at least you have 100 Morgan dollars to remember him with. Also, we're all (me included) anxious to know if there's any CC mint marks.
