Please grade this. Take note that the small shiny area above the left leaf on the reverse stands out only because of the reflection of the incident lighting. When viewing the reverse of this coin through a loop this areas appears to have a look similar to the other areas surrounding the cluster of leaves. Also, IMO the diagonal line near the opening of the large 'C' on the reverse appears to be related to the adjacent clash marks. An overlay should confirm or refute this. B/t/w this 1855 Three-Cent Silver coin has the lowest mintage of all of these type coins made in the 1850s; consequently, it carries a higher premium.

Ch VF sharpness, but light cleaning which hairlined it, especially on the reverse.

I'm going to agree with the VF-35 but respectfully disagree on the details. Yes I see the hairlines/scratches but do not believe it is from a light cleaning. To me it looks like it is nothing more than being mishandled in the past. Overall a nice coin

It probably grades in the VF range in spite of the weak obverse rim. Type 2 coins come standard with poor definition near the rims. This one has a sharp, full date which is a plus. I doubt that curved line on the reverse is a clash mark since I don't see any obverse design feature that would correspond. Maybe the die was damaged? I wonder if there are other examples with similar lines.

Quote: ...with severe clash. I only refer to this link below for those who would enjoy viewing much better hi-res photos of both the clash and RPD. I like this coin more than usual since I've personalized it with a nickname of the 'spinning barber poles'. The angled clash of the shield's horizontal lines look eerily similar to the orientation of the red, white and blue barbershop bands representing blood, bandages, and veins.
