You gotta love this variety, the doubled profile Kennedy!
There is one neat secret I'll reveal about it after a few posts.

Hmmm, I just learned the '64 TDO was tripled in the lettering, not the face. Whatever coin is pictured has tripling in the face...
Now the suspense is killin' me too. :)

It looks like a reflection, not like doubling to me. Maybe it's just the pictures.

If it's a 1966 SMS, NGC says this, "Doubling in the profile is fairly common on 1966 SMS halves and probably resulted from one or more doubled working hubs. This designation is used for coins which show doubling but don't match specific varieties recognized by NGC."

Still very nice doubling! I like it!

However there are 7 or 8 others recognized. Some have the profile doubling also! Which is it?

Thanks Jay for bringing up the 66 doubled profile. It's a pretty recognized variety in the Cherrypicker's Guide as DDO-007. The specimen I have here doesn't exhibit any Machine Doubling, this is hub doubling all the way. However, I discovered this in a 67 sms! Nothing of note for this date on variety vista or any similar sites. Anyone know if this is attributed elsewhere or might this be a new discovery? note: the scratches are on the holder, I haven't cracked it out yet.

I personally don't like the look of it. Oh, well, I've been wrong before.

PCGS lists it as a QUADRUPLE DIE obverse in '67 SMS sets. BTW, as of Feb, PCGS online info went to free for anyone who doesn't already know.
The SMS sets are all the way at the bottom, past the Proofs
Your coin sure loks like a triple, not a quad, but its a photo that I am looking at... Maybe you have a new one!
