Picked this one up today from a collector for $185 delivered. Thought that was a fair price. Edited by jerryc39 04/12/2016 2:07 pm

Gorgeous coin! Strong strong strike.
I've wanted one of these for a while, but, I keep getting distracted by other items and hobbies

A real beauty. Some day these are coming back strong, especially given the junk the mint is putting out today.

Lovely touches of golden tone add to the appeal of this coin, too.
Isn't it amazing that you can pick up a beauty like that, from NGC it looks like, for under $200?
If the classic silver classic commemoratives are compared to rare dates of most series, most of the SCC had really tiny mintages. Coupled with the fact that they have some truly wonderful art on many of them, it seems almost sacrilegious that they sell so cheaply.
Any month that I can add another SCC to my collection is a good month just for that reason alone.
Congratulations on a beauty.

Good deal. The thing about SCCs, like the proofs is that they were bought to be saved, so lots are preserved well. The Oregon Trail is the nicest design of all of them. The way the rim slowly merges into the field results in edge driven toning having really nice, often rainbow colors.

Nice find! One of my favorites. Not letting mine go for twice that price! I agree that classic commemoratives are due a comeback. Pictures before grading. PCGS MS-66:

Couldn't agree more with coinfrogs statement. "A real beauty. Some day these are coming back strong, especially given the junk the mint is putting out today." I've been putting these away for 10 years now. I'm hoping for a breakout in value for my retirement! But honestly, this is my favorite early commem. Just picked up a blazing white original raw 1936-s last month. Looks MS-66. Will be sending to PCGS shortly.
