TPG MS63BN / EAC AU55. Lovely coin. I do not think it saw circulation and there is absolutely almost nothing to knock it from an EAC MS except what looks like very faint contact marks in the left field opposite the face & on the neck and a very light hit below the 8. Unevenly struck (weakness on S3-S6 and again at S9 and slightly on S11.)

I could be completely off base here, but...oh well.

This another of selected those EAC dealer ;arge cents. PCGS graded this one AU-58. There is the very slightest hint of a rub, and there is a straight scratch on Ms. Liberty's chin, but this is the type of piece you often see in an MS-61 or 62 holder.

I have found that the TPG's are hard on the 1836 - 1838 dates. The wright book says that there are a large number (comparatively) of MS examples. I find the TPG "market" grading is inconsistent. If the OP's coin was 1816 LC it might just grade as an MS64.
