Actually, this is an acceptable form of labeling some colonials that came from older collections.

I have very little room left on my 2x2 holders to label VAMs, maybe I should switch to this method...

Museums often used indelible ink inventory numbers on all collection pieces, but dis ain't dat.

Look at the cap fold crease area how the ink slightly bled into it. This ain't no photoshop job.
