Strange 1803 Mystery 'Coin' - Coin Community Forum

mysilveryears Pillar of the Community United States 1888 Posts	Posted 04/16/2016 10:17 am I am counting on the vast wealth of knowledge and experience on this forum to let me know what it is I have. I know you folks will not let me down. Here are the facts + obvious details: It is bronze or copper (somewhat darker than photos show); 25 mm in diameter; weight 5.13 grams; rather thin planchet. It has medal alignment. It appears to have plenty of normal circulation wear. No denomination is evident; however it is approximately the size of a Half Cent. I have never seen nor heard of any USA minor coin with a 'turban head' obverse and heraldic 'eagle' reverse. The bird's head looks a lot more like that of one of the turkeys my sis raises on her organic farm, than a serious bird of prey. What-the-heck is this piece, pray tell ? ? ?
