So I just picked up my first box of $25 of 1 cents
Ive never roll hunted before on any kind of scale...what are some of the ways you guys do it?
roll by roll? mix all the rolls into a big pile?
also might be alot of US cents mixed in.
what are the pennies I need to look for?2006 etc
it should be a great variety as I got them from a super market
cheers

Your box: Your rules!

It all really depends on how you want to do it and what your desired result is.

Most people I know do it roll by roll and cull out the "Keepers" from the chum. What constitutes a Keeper is up to you. Obviously you will want to look for rarities, varieties and old coins. Older composition versions, older designs, errors and varieties etc. constitute keepers for most of us.

Assuming these are Canadian cent rolls you may want to keep the US pennies for a future visit but remember there are some keepers in them too.

On my side of the border I keep all the Canadian coins I find but I suspect they are rarer to find here than US coins are there.

I use a couple plastic tubs, one for keepers and the other for chum. If I find a particularly special keeper I wouldn't toss it in the keeper tub but set it more carefully aside to prevent additional contact damage.

When I used to do it I would go roll by roll. Typically found lots of wheat cents, depending on the batch. There are a lot of varieties out there to look for too!
