The wear will make pinning the precise type down harder, but there are some real experts in these here who may well be still able to do so. I'd simply remark that the fact that it appears to have been clipped will be very much to the detriment of the specimen's value and desirability, even if it turns out to be a rarer variant.

@georok, is the coin clipped (not round) or is that a shadow from your thumb?

Looking more closely, I believe you're right. My bad. In fact, thinking about it, if it was clipped, the flat part on the reverse wouldn't be where it is in these photos.

no, it's thumb plus crop from picassa program.
Sorry I didn't know the signs you seek to determine the variety.
Now that I know, I realise it is very difficult with these photos.
Hope these without crop photos are much better!!

Looks like a post 1865 standard strike that has been circulated. It is a melt coin - IMO.
