here is an example. This coin was in lincon cents cardboard type album for decades and I just took it out because it caught my eye.

Your coin was harshly polished before it was added to the album, exposure to the cardboard and environment have oxidized it.

This coin was polished with a metal polish, to remove ALL of the patina.
Over the years it has re patinated.
Some of the salts of copper are green (copper hydroxy carbnate), some blue (aqueous copper sulfate) and some are black (oxides of copper).

Agree, the coin is a G-4, heavily polished and it toned strangely. I was hoping for something more natural like this:

thats a shame because there are several coins that this has occurred in one of the particular "Dansco" albums I am looking at dated with most recent copyright 1959. They have been stored in boxes in a garage at my grandparents southern California coastal home for a very long time.
Of the 6 Lincoln Cent albums, the pennies in the "Whitman" album "serial No. 9004" seem to not have this affect. Or maybe it is like you said, the ones that were harshly polished prior to placement show this result significantly..

Both coins are cleaned.
The second coin has some lighter clean than the first one. But it is still a harsh clean.
Rest in Peace

I disagree on the 2nd Lincoln ( reverse showing ) Not cleaned , I kind a like the natural toning. Just my opinion.
