I have a few things I need help with. I don't know a lot about Ikes, but through obtaining mint sets, I have a few. So I decided to get a Dansco ( ebay with slip cover for $10!), and fill it up. Well the Dansco arrived over the weekend, and I had been to the LCS last week to get some proofs to help fill the slots. For my first question: I currently have 3 proofs that I don't have slots for: 1971 S Silver, 1972 S Silver, and my 1776-1976 S, I have both types, but there is only one slot. (Odd that the 76 P and D have both varieties, but not the proof) Also, there is no spot for the 77 S or the 78 S proofs. So how do you guys handle this? Buy a blank page for the extras? I want this set to be as complete as possible. Now my second question. I obviously didn't get a 71 or 72 from the mint sets, but from my questioning cashiers over the last year, I did obtain a few circulated versions. The 1971's I have are where I need help. It appears that they may be different types, but circulation wear, possibly weak strike, I need some help with ID. So we will call them coin A and coin B. Coin A: And coin B: Any thoughts? Are they the same? Need better pics? Thanks in advance!

OK, seems that driving home late Sunday night, then trying to work on the coins was a bad idea. I was mistaken, thinking that 1971 was the year for the different types, and it is actually 1972, correct? Anyway, I am still curious if others place an extra blank page for their dansco sets for the slots that are missing. Maybe Dansco has an updated version, and I bought this one cheap for a reason, lol.

If your Dansco is #8176 (4 pages), you should have a spot for everything (silver and proofs). If you got #7176 (2 pages), then you might know why it was so cheap. :)
And yes, 1972 has 3 different types.

Yes, it sounds like you got the 7176 Dansco. You need the 8176 Dansco for all of the proof holes.
Neither version differentiates the 1972 Varieties. They only have those those for 1976. Good news is that the 8176 has four blank holes at the end, so room for those two extra 1972 varieties.

Looks like you figured out about the two albums. For the future, in most cases, for the Dansco albums, if the album number starts with a seven (7xxx) it does not have holes for proof only issue coins. If the album number starts with a eight (8xxx), than it will have holes for proof only issue coins. I see no problem in having the 7176, why not do both ... That's what I did Edit - Can anyone think of a good reason not to do both albums. I mean, what better way to collect more Ike's, do both

Yeah, like Anyone reading this thread it's going to vote for me to collect fewer Ikes! Actually, that is probably what will happen. My LCS had a used one I was looking at when purchasing the proofs. Just didn't do my due diligence on the auction.

Quote: Edit - Can anyone think of a good reason not to do both albums. I mean, what better way to collect more Ike's, do both The only think better than filling both the 7176 and 8176 is maybe filling two 8176 albums. Actually, funny story, when I was getting that link from Wizard I was tempted to order another one! Maybe after I fill the remaining twenty-one holes I have in my existing Dansco albums.
