I have been trying to find the VAMs on all of my Morgan dollars. While I have actually been able to Verify a few myself now. Yea me.

Anyways I am wondering if a coin has to match ALL the die markers of a particular VAM to be verified as such?

For example I have an 1883 CC Morgan, (this should be easy to VAM as there are very few VAM Varieties for this coin) That I was gonna call VAM-1. Then I saw it has a die scratch on the wing in the same place listed under VAM 5A. However I don't see any other VAM 5A markers(definitely no clashing on obverse) and this is the only VAM for this year that has this die scratch listed.

Should I ignore die scratch and call it VAM-1?

Will post pics tomorrow.

Thanks...Mont.
Rest in Peace

Not sure if you meant the VAM-5 series is the only series with the scratch, or specifically the VAM-5A. VAMs 5, 5A, 5B, 5C and 5D all have the scratch in wing.

Thanks for that info. I have determined it to be VAM 5B. Has all but one of the markers that I can see for this one.
