Here is one of the key classic type coins in the U.S. series, the 1796 Quarter. I bought this one back in the late 1980s when prices were not as high as they are today. At the time people were more interested in anything that graded MS-65 as an "investment." Early coins like this were interesting, but not of "investment quality." So what do you think she grades?

Incredibly rare. I love seeing your 18th century coinage. I'll say VF-25.

I would say VF-30 as well. What I find interesting and I hadn't noticed until the other day with one of your posts, that all these early quarters, halves and silver dollars don't say what they are. I guess you just had to know by the size of the coin back then. LOL

At least VF-25, with nice original surfaces and no problems that I can see. If I were in the market and had the budget for a 1796 quarter I would likely have to lay out $30,000 or more to get a comparable piece. Beautiful and impressive coin, as are all the members of the billjones collection.
